November 2011 Blog Matsuri – Waxing Poetic

It’s time for the November Japan Blog Matsuri. I’ll be hosting it this month and we are going to wax poetic. This month the theme is acrostic poems using the the word ‘Autumn’. Remember acrostic poems from back in the days of elementary school? Use artistic license when it comes to the content and format of the poem. If you have a photography blog you could display pictures whose titles make an acrostic poem. You could do a list of what you love about autumn. Feel free to expand on the words in your poem. Anything goes as long as it follows the rules and guidelines. Please add your post link to the comments section and I’ll be doing a post with all of them at the end of the month. The submission deadline is November 25th.

Given that this is a food blog my poem is about food.

    kAbocha soup

Kabocha is my favorite soup anytime of the year but it is especially good once the weather has started to cool down.

Udon noodles have always been my favorite noodle. My absolute favorite way to eat udon is in curry udon.

I eat oatmeal for breakfast almost every morning.

Houji tea – I can’t drink enough of this stuff in the fall.

Fresh from the oven, nothing better.

The start of nabe (hotpot) season. This is my favorite food season. I eat nabe about five times a week in the fall and winter. You may think that’s a lot but nabe is really just soup with big chunks.

August 2011 Blog Matsuri Post: Summer Noodle Lovin’

This is my first Japan Blog Matsuri post.  I have wanted to participate for a long time.  Super Happy Awesome is hosting and you can check out other Matsuri posts in the comments section here. The topic is Summer Lovin’ and this summer I’m lovin’ noodles. Regular readers will know that I have posted several noodle recipes over the last couple of months. Hiyamugi are less well known than soumen.  They are a bit thicker and seem to be easy to find in stores.
