Are you new to Japan? Or new to cooking? If you are wondering where to start, I can help you. I can take you through basic cooking ingredients, basic recipes and anything else you would like to know. Class content can be adapted for those with allergies or sensitivities.

Group Cooking Classes at Serendipity Cafe in Chigasaki, Kanagawa

I do a cooking class at the lovely Serendipity Cafe (a fantastic child-friendly cafe) once a month. Topics vary by month and some classes are child friendly. There are 6-8 participants and the cost is usually 2500-3000 yen per person. The family friendly classes are 3000yen per family (or pair of non-related folks).

Private classes

Private classes can be hosted by the student or take place at my home in Zushi. Classes start from 90 minutes (depending on the topic) and are conducted in English. Classes can be done in simple English for learners. Prices are dependant on the cost of ingredients so please contact me through the contact page for more information.

Topics can include:

  • Setting up your kitchen
  • Seasonal ingredients and how to use them
  • Basic cooking techniques
  • Adapting recipes for allergies

Group Classes or Parties

Group classes or parties are hosted by one of the participants or at my home in Zushi. Classes are generally 90 minutes to two hours, depending on the topic. Classes are conducted in English and can be done in simple English for learners. These classes can be tailored to suit all ages.

Topics can include:

  • Seasonal recipes
  • Basic cooking techniques
  • Pizza party
  • Cupcake making and decorating
  • Cooking for those with allergies

Parent and Child Cooking Classes

This is a great way to introduce your child to cooking. This is also a fun option for birthday parties. Together with your child, you will prepare a savory meal or a sweet treat. The menu can adapted to accommodate allergies and sensitivities. In fact, your child can choose the menu themselves from a list of options. Classes are usually 90 minutes, depending on what we make.

  • Pizza party
  • Cupcakes
  • Cookies
  • Soup
  • Bread
